Salvation Study

The first step is mental belief. This is first because you can't take any other step toward a goal unless you believe it exists. You can't pray to a God you think is dead.

This first step is a mere beginning. Much, much more is in store for the believer. The first step is like believing in the accuracy of a road map. The next three steps are actually like using the map.

Step two is called repentance. This means not merely feeling guilty or sorry for your sins but choosing with your will to turn off the road you are now traveling, because you have been convinced that it is not the right road, the true road, the road that leads to God. In the full sense, repentance means renouncing the lord of your present road-the enemy, the evil one-so you can give yourself instead to Jesus Christ, your rightful Lord. Repentance is a change of fundamental allegiance, it is like changing sides in a war.

The third step which is the other side of repentance is faith. This is not just mental belief (that was step one) but accepting and receiving Jesus Christ as God and Savior of your soul, your life, your destiny. This is the place of believing that God wants a personal relationship with you through Jesus Christ.

The first step is believing the road map; the second is turning off your present road; the third is turning onto another road. The other road is Jesus, ho said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

The fourth step is traveling down his way, actually living the Christian life. In step three the tree of Christ's life is planted in you; in step four it bears fruit. Here it is important to find a Bible you can understand and begin to read it (particularly the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John  which tell the story of Jesus' life), to pray and to find a good church which you can be a part of. These four simple steps will help you start on the journey of knowing, loving and serving God.
